She is...although in some pictures she looks downright scary
The band, overall, reminds me of Missing Persons, a band of Frank Zappa graduates who formed a band with the drummer's wife as a singer. The sole mission of the band was to write commercial music and sell lots of records. I did like that first album (and "Mental Hopscotch" was and is a great song), but it all fell apart after one release. Their first album was a self-fufillng prophecy, and they had real trouble following it up. It's what happens when you create music to serve a specific goal (a material one in this case) rather than simply following your heart: they had literally no idea what to do when it came time to record their second album.
Garbage, of course, are ostensibly the exact same approach, but with the producers replacing the virtuosos. Unlike Missing Persons, they seem to have drawn up a better long-term map. But manufacturing music is just not the same as creating it.
