It didn't help Jeff Buckley very much.

jeff who? jk jk jk.... but seriously, i think why i like MI is because they actually expect you to focus 100% on music, no other unrelated classes that distract from your music studies... i really like that concept u know?

a friend of mine went through their drumming program in LA in the early 90s. he's still one of the best drummers i've ever heard play. but you're right the course is designed to focus solely on music, there's no other bullshit. from what i remember he mentionned a pretty good balance of theory and practice along with a lot of good sessions with industry pros offering tips and tricks on how to become better musicians. i know that he ended up learning a lot of south american styles, not sure if that was something he chose to focus in within a pre-determined amount of courses or if it was just how the curriculum was setup when he was there.

i've never been to one but if you're close enough to attend a weeklong workshop then i'd highly recommend it. see what they've got to offer for all their courses and don't be afraid to ask questions about the curriculum.
