Rap with rock, the poll
who's your favourite (nineties) raprock (with stress on the rap) band?
do you think there will be a revival of this style in 5-10 years?
My favourite is probably Urban Dance Squad from the Netherlands. I don't know if they got a lot of recognition outside of Europe, but their singles "Demagogue", "Routine" and others were really good... I should delve deeper in their catalogue...
For the rest I didn't care that much about this style... I fear that it produced a lot of rubbish as well...
P.S. I don't know that much about this style, so if some bands are left out, contact
Mr. T. Jello about this... merging this thread with the raprock thread in the rock section is an option too, but this one focuses more on rappers with rock influences instead of rock bands with rap influences...

Rage Against the Machine isn't on that poll. I might have voted for them. I don't like any group on the poll, sorry Orpheus.

because they're more rock than rap...
so have any of you actually heard Urban Dance Squad?
and I don't really like this style all that much myself, I just saw a clip by House of Pain this morning on tellie...

Body Count is a metal band, and don't belong in such a poll...
I like a couple of House of Pain songs, although there doesn't seem to be a lot of rock involved. Cypress Hill went downhill after the first album (which was fairly solid). Again I see very little "rock". DJ Muggs proved his worth here.
Other than the Beastie Boys, the remainder of the list does nothing for me. The Boys had 3 solid albums, and the live instrumentation mixed with samples on Check Your Head may well represent the single-best merging of the two styles. Too bad Ill communication, which used the same basic philosophies, was spotty.
Kid Rock especially should have been shot when we still had him only known in Detroit. But none of us thought he'd every go anywhere.

Quarashi should've been on the poll. They sound like the Beastie Boys but definitely more rock oriented. Have the Beasties done any rock-rap since "Sabotage"?

I don't mind the first two Cypress Hill records, so they got my vote, going by that list.
