I voted Arcade Fire because it's the only one of the five that I listen to anymore.

After buying their album I'm pretty upset that Ambulance LTD is so underrated/underhyped. They don't fit in with this crowd though. Instead of reviving an old style of rock they're actually doing something new.

Amen, Ambulance LTD is absolutely fantastic. There's a little revival in there, but it's on a completely different spectrum.

Anyone seen the latest Bravery video? As if it's not bad enough that they want to sound like Duran Duran, they've started doing videos where they're pissing about on boats. Simon Le Bon should be turning in his grave.

Anyway, I've voted Killers, because they've had a couple fo fairly decent singles. The album's choc-full of filler though.

Well... even before checking out the contents of this thread, I knew that there'd be franz ferdinand and that I'd be voting for them. Also, I fuckung hate Arcade Fire.

I didn't know Simon was dead...

It is fitting that the Bravery would have such a direct link of hero worship in their videos, when musically they owe so much to the Cure. Bands like this seem to be good for young people who "weren't there the first time", but they do nothing for me. This is practically a carbon copy.

When Kingdom Come were around being a dead ringer for Led Zeppelin 20 years ago, that wasn't cool at all (although their first album had an initial surge in sales due to hype). Nowadays bands can basically ripoff all or parts of an entire scene and people flock out to buy it. A Zappa said, this is "giving the people what they want." You don't ask, you don't get.

oh christ, bands hav always done this. everyone has their influences and everyone draws from their influences. The Bravery are more than a Cure carbon copy- theres elements of The Smiths, New Order, Iggy Pop and even contemporaries like The Strokes. theyve put out an album that, despite their being clear indications of who theyve been listening too, has some pretty good songs on it- and theres two or three that are great.
