It truly is. It's amazing how much XTC has matured over the years. Unfortunately, Apple Venus Vol. 2 was just average.

I agree.
Apple Venus Volume One might be the very best thing they've done, at least among the very best.
Wasp Star:Apple Venus Volume Two made me miss guitarist Dave Gregory something fierce. Whatever he added to the band is certainly missing here.

There is a sense of longing in the Apple Venus, Volume One grooves.
When I was kid, I got a hankering for what we used to call the "Art Rock", it seems to have all but disappeared. Always nice when it comes back around.
