Psychobilly

There are a few threads around saying that the punk section is slowly dying, so I'm trying to start new thread with more interesting subject. It's too bad Mr. Gooze isn't here anymore, I'm sure he would have posted a lot of great things in that thread.

So, let's start with a definition of psychobilly for those who doesn't have any idea of what it is.
From wikipedia:
Quote:
Psychobilly is a genre of music generally described as a mix between the British punk rock of the 1970s and the American rockabilly of the 1950s. The genre is also characterized by lyrical references to horror films, violence, exploitation films, lurid sexuality and other topics generally considered taboo, although presented in a comedic, tongue-in-cheek fashion. Modern psychobilly often resembles horror punk.

What are your favorite psychobilly bands, albums, song? Or what are your thoughts on this more specific genre?

I've just recently started listening to psychobilly... and I must say it was much needed. I love the beats, it makes me think of Jerry Lee Lewis on cocaine.

I've so far only heard Reverend Horton Heat, and some of Tiger Army but I'm already becoming a big fan. I'm planning on checking out some of the ones you mentioned Bonnie very soon!

I had a good treat the other weekend, I walked into a bar I've never been to, and lo and behold there was a rockabilly band there!

wow, that link is sweet... i wish i could show how much i apreciate that little lesson and whatnot.

anyways, out of my narrow expeiance with psychobilly, i would have to say that i really enjoy tiger army. their song "the power of moonlight" always makes me want to make a movie or start rampaging like some animal through town at night. i also hve "dead girls dont cry" by nekromantix.

one "horrorpops" is also pretty cool... female lead psychobilly! they do a good job, and their bassist is the guy from nekromantix. i heard that they hve two swing dancers that follow them around too right?

The Cramps are one of my favorite bands, so it goes without saying that they are my favorite with in the genre, but I also like Demented Are Go and Reverend Horton Heat.

Besides what has already been said, check out Batmobile.
