Their first and by far their best. If you have any interest in contemporary Rock-a-billy or more specifically Psychobilly (a term which may have been coined on this album, in the song Psychobilly Freak Out, but I'm not really sure), then this album is a must have. As far as their other stuff, the only thing I've listened to which was good was 'Liquor in the Front'. All their newer stuff (It's Martini Time, Holy Roller...) is pretty boring. I suppose this is another example of a band peaking very early and then having no where to go (like the Stray Cats before them?).

In my opinion the best DEMENTED ARE GO album is (together with Mad Sin's "Sweet and Innocent? LOUD AND DIRTY!" ) one of the best albums ever made in Psychobilly: In sickness and in health. This album contains classics such as Pervy in the park, Born on a busted Hymen, Be bop a lula (open your legs, more! more! more! say be bop alula.... LOL), Frenzied Beat, Pickled and preserved, Transvestite blues. This album is really the one every one should hear as their first psychobilly album. Released in 86, they were at the foundations of this speed/uptempo rockabilly music. No one ever took em serious in their early years. They were too soft for punks, too mellow for hard rockers, and way too vulgar for any other form of music... But they never gave up, and now they lead a whole scene... Musically it's not that technical and WOW!, but man, it's the most fun music ever made!

And then, the other psychobilly album that everyone should hear is Mad Sin's "Sweet and innocent? LOUD AND DIRTY!". The album just goes by like a train. Every single song is magnificent rocker, and the music here is way more than 3 chords... Just listen to the stand-up bass on this album, it makes Lee Rocker (Stray Cats) jealous. The samples they use are so wellplaced and timed that every otherband that uses samples (in rock that is!) should take lessons from El Köfte. (vocals and samples in Mad Sin). The guitars are excellent and the drums really get you goin... Unfortunately the best lyrics are the ones in german, so most people on the board here wouldn't get them. Like the song: Costa del Hell. Search for them lyrics if you understand german! Really, they're hilarious!!

Anyway, gotta go now. Maybe Ill be back later. Since FINALLY! people start having interest in the most fun musicgenre there is... this forum has become attractive to me again. Thanx Bonnie, great job!!

Not really psychobilly, rather psycho-blue grass, but a 'must-heard' band are Hayseed Dixie. They started out as a tribute band to AC/DC, but by now they cover lots of other artists such as Snoop Dogg, Van Halen, Joan Jett, AC/DC, Run DMC,... All classic songs in punked up bluegrass style. Real fun music!! Try to get a hold on some songs!!!

what do you people think about Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster? rather derivative of the Cramps and the Birthday Party, but I still really like some of their songs...
