Fugazi is just one of dozens of trendy indie college rock type bands but Minor Threat basically created the blueprint for the guitar and vocal sound of American hardcore punk. Plus, Minor Threat scratches to the core of one's being while Fugazi is like something you'd hear at a frat party.

fuck man that is pretty funny. You obviously haven't seen fugazi live before. "Trendy indie college rock band" for fuck sake do your homework before saying shit like that. Minor threat released only one album. Yeah it is good but it is not even close to the best American hardcore punk album nor was it even close to being the first.

Just because yall wanna pretend there's something radical and exciting about Fugazi's music doesn't make it so. Ian MacKaye's standards about keeping ticket prices low and all that were cool as hell but man their music is your basic frat rock crap. Sorry but it's true. I respect the man, I love Minor Threat but Fugazi just isn't a serious musical force.

Like I said you obviously haven't seen them live because nobody that would have seen them live would say shite like that. When Margin walker (13 songs)/repeater was released they were a very original sounding band. Late 80's/early 90's I was pretty obsessed with alt rock/punk and fugazi were one of a kind.

Now I don't really know what is considered frat rock these days as I don't hang out with any frat boys or girls but if they are listening to fugazi well fuckin good on them it certainly doesn't detract from the music.

"Fugazi isn't a serious musical force" fuck man how old are you and how much fugazi have you heard? Are you some sort of teen with one dimentional musical taste(ie if it isn't hard core flat out screamo it is no good)?

I have a few Fugazi records including the one with Waiting Room or whatever that is and a few bootlegs. I saw them live in Athens GA once.

I'm not all into screamo hardcore but I do love the best of it like MT. I'm into a lot of free jazz and 20th C 'classical' like Sun Ra and Elliott Carter and so on plus I like a lot of other stuff like folk, bluegrass and really just anything that's good.

Well if you really have seen them and you still think they are lame they must have been having an off night. I saw them twice in the early 90's in small venues and on both occations they blew the entire venue away. My advice to you is to get more of their albums as they have heeps more depth to their sound than minor threat.

I really dig their instrumental album even though it was rated lowest of all their albums. It's pretty diverse. I never got around to The Argument even though many consider it their best. Red Medicine is a good one, though. I also like what I've heard of End Hits. For the most part In On the Kill Taker is just pointless noise to me. But I really dig "Sweet and Low." Smooth, it is.

shit man let it grow on you "In on the kill Taker" is great. It is noisy but it is bloody powerful noise. It is their album where they went just a little "sonic youth"

Honestly, I love Fugazi, but I liked Repeater more than I liked 13 Songs.

(Btw, Minor Threat is great, too, I have one of their shirts.)
