Children of Bodom
Just wanted to see what the general opinion around here is on Children of Bodom. Personally, I love them. Follow the Reaper was an absolutely brilliant album in my eyes (or ears, maybe). Then again, I know a lot of people who hate them passionately. I just thought it would be interesting to get some other viewpoints, seeing as there is almost no-one to talk to about metal in Park City, Utah.

Wow, lucky you! They came around here a year or two ago with Dimmu Borgir, Nevermore, and Hypocricy, but I couldn't go because it was a school night and according to my parents, my attending that show would have sent my entire high-school career plummeting into a lacunal abyss of poor grades and such. I want to see them live so bad! Alexi Laiho is a guitar god, and to watch him play would be awesome indeed.

It was 2003, and I saw them on that tour. I also saw them last year with Lamb of God, and one of my parents was there at both tours, with the rest of us.
I heard that Alexi's hand has healed. He is able to to play again, and is recording new material with the band. They're expecting a new recording, by mid-year.
What do you think of Alexi's other band Sinergy? I think it's pretty bad group.

Wasn't that released, back in 2004? I remember there was supposed to be an EP with that title released back in Oct. 2004. It was going to be covers and two new songs. I think that the covers were to be Alice Cooper’s 'Bed of Nails', and Andrew W.K.'s. None of which was interesting enough to keep track of.
Did that get pushed back again? I was under the impression, that this was going to be a new full record, which was on hold because of Alexi's hand injury. After all, Alexi didn't hurt his hand until Dec. of 2004.

I found this report, which confirms that they are recording a new record.
~ CHILDREN OF BODOM Guitarist Says New Album Won't Be 'Hate Crew Deathroll Part II' ~
According to the CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist Alexi Laiho revealed in a recent interview some information about the progress of the songwriting sessions for their upcoming album. Despite his broken arm (which is said to have occurred when he fell from top of a car while intoxicated), he was able to compose some material during the past few weeks. He didn't want to reveal what the new stuff will be like, but he said that it wouldn't be a "Hate Crew Deathroll Part II" and would rather represent something new and fresh without sacrificing the elements that made CHILDREN OF BODOM unique (including keyboards and guitar solos). For the first time ever, Alexi has written lyrics for two songs before even composing the music for the tracks.
As previously reported, the album will be recorded in April-May in a studio in Helsinki with Mikko Karmila recording and mixing the album. However, the producer for the album hasn't been decided yet. The plan is for the group to include the title track of their recent EP, "Trashed, Lost & Strungout", on the new album, albeit possibly in a re-recorded form, since the original version was recorded at Astia Studio, which won't be the case with the rest of the album. (It wouldn't be the first time the band have done this, since "Hate Me!" was also recorded during both the single session in Astia and the "Follow the Reaper" session at Abyss studios.)

Yeah, I knew about the Dark Tranquillity show in SLC, but I couldn't go - yet another amazing concert missed due to it being a school night. And Trashed, Lost and Strung Out is my favorite Bodom song ever.
