Aloha
I don't think I've seen any mention of these guys on these boards, and it's a shame, as they're easily one of my favorite bands of the past few years. I've got all of their releases and each one manages to successfully build on the last. Their alternative jazz-rock sound makes great use of texture, space, and dynamics, and I don't think there's a song in their catalogue I dislike to any degree. If you haven't been listening to Aloha, I suggest you look into them.
Anyone else here fans of their music?

Aloha kicks Karate's ass.
Seriously, if you like Karate, you'll probably like Aloha, but Aloha's songs and rhythms are a lot more free flowing, textured, and layered than Karate.
If you want to try them out, get their newest first -- it's surprisingly their best yet: "Here Comes Everyone". You can listen to sound clips here: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinf...cart=240874372

I guess I should assume that, as of now, I'm the only fan here?

hey give me some time to really listen to them, will ya?!
and I haven't heard as much Karate as I'd want to... I don't think I've listened to a complete album by them...
I fail to see the audio clips on that site, though...
EDIT: I didn't scroll down enough...
EDIT2: basing myself on the clips they seem good, but not superb, but 30 seconds of a song is really way too short to give a good impression... I will have to speak to my good friend Mr. Seek about this...

Try some of their earlier stuff as well, if you can find it, from "Sugar" and "That's Your Fire".

As I said to Orpheus, I'd suggest the material on "Here Comes Everyone" before their other albums, although Sugar and That's Your Fire are hardly bad.

more free audio material
have downloaded the songs from there, will give them a listen in a minute...
EDIT: sounds quite interesting, but it seems like it's a band you have to listen to quite a bit to really get them, know what ah mean, huh punk!?
"Summer Away" is especially nice, certainly the beginning of the song...

I've listened to a bunch of Aloha's stuff, and I liked it a bunch, but I didn't love it.
I agree about "Here Comes Everybody" Very nice
