Cool Bill Monroe

Anyone into Bill Monroe, aka, the father of Bluegrass? As of the moment, I only have his early recordings from '36-'41, but so far so good!

I'm really getting into Bluegrass as of late -- in many respects, it did to Country music what Jazz did to the Blues; intensified it, added increased emphasis on improvisation, and stretched the fundamental song structures to their outermost limits, and this is something I enjoy greatly.

Anyone have specific albums they'd recommend, or favorite songs? I'll probably post mine once my collection of Monroe recordings increases.

I'd say I have a fundamental interest in Bluegrass music which makes my list of albums I've heard relatively short. But, of the ones I've heard, I like Allison Krauss + Union Station's Live album and an essential album would be The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 30th Anniversary Edition of Will The Circle Be Unbroken which is a recording made in 1972 of a mixture of different Bluegrass/Country Legends such as Mother Mabelle Carter, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, Roy Acuff and Earl Scruggs.
