Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Has anybody else heard this one yet? I got it a few days ago, and I am a little dissapointed. It is a good album though, I like the metalcore parody song they have on it, "Dying Will Be the Death of Me". What really stands out is that it is alot less schizophrenic than their past efforts. The drums sound a bit different as well. Overall I just see it as less creative than what the have before. I'd rather hear Cephalic Carnage than "Cephalic Carnage's stoner song". I love Lucid Interval, I don't know what happened here. This release does make me anxious to hear another album by the band, because I am now concerned aobut the direction they are heading in from here.
What did you all think of it?

I wasn't that sold on Lucid Interval, personally, I was expecting something much more free-form, whereas Lucid Interval seemed more like early Carcass, with the occasional change of tempo or style. I doubt I'll be digging deeper.

I kind of like the mp3's I heard, they were good, very experimental.

I fail to see much of a resemblance to Carcass, but if you wanted sometihng more "free form" you still may want to give their album "Exploiting Dysfunction" a shot.
And I'm glad you like it Bozo.

Or even better yet, give Human Remains a listen, they are a huge influence on Cephalic Carnage, and alot of other experimental metal. Certainly more "free form" than Cephalic Carnage as well.

Cheers, Weird/experimental metal is well tricky to find, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I've heard it, and I enjoyed it -- beyond that, I don't feel like posting a full review. It's typical for Cephalic Carnage, which is a good thing, of course. But as you already said, I'd rather listen to Human Remains, in general.
By the way, Darkness Fish: Relapse Records: Human Remains
