Death From Above 1979

So...has anyone heard this band? I saw them on Conan O'Brien and was quite intrigued so I bought their CD based on that one song tv spot. I have ben listening to it ever since...just a week but many plays...they have a bit of the 'new punk' sound but with a major groove in some of their songs. The bass is very prominent and riffs a lot. What I really like is that they don't sound like they are trying to sing like Green Day (like every other pseudo punk band seems to sound like). Check out the song 'Romantic Rights'...it is the 'catchiest' I'd say with a good groove, nice riffs and nice energetic drumming.

Samoan Joe's Barman: You want a pint, you go to the pub.
Bacon: I thought this was a pub!
Samoan Joes Barman: It's a Samoan pub.

Sorry, I'll stick with my Ruins discs if I'm in the mood for an energetic drum and bass combo...I saw the Conan appearance as well and I can't say I was too impressed.

I doubt if Ruins has a single song as catchy as Romantic Rights and as profound lyrics as Pull Out.

well you know those aren't things Seba cares about if it isn't completely original and rather inaccessible, he won't touch it!

Picked this up yesterday, heard it played loud in the record shop, and couldn`t deny that this was album was rocking more than I`ve ever heard really (without being heavy gurgling or heavy emo). Deserves full bass and full volume all the way through, I needed this album alot!

you've obviously never heard ruins if you're trying to compare the depth of lyrics.
