i had this discussion with a great friend of mine, he listen to the whole albums and he thinks listening to tracks is insulting and doesn´t let you catch the album mood.

i listen to albums but have to accept that sometimes i cheat and stop and album before it ends and play another one. likewise we listen electronic music that oftenyl, mainly in more mainstream genres, is realeased on singles and ep`s.

yes. it's pretty sad how much i actually know. i know a good select amount of artists, but rarely do i ever really expand my horizons. im too stuck on the M3rck, Warp, Ghostly, DIN, Vertical Form, Skam, Schematic esque labels when i could really be delving into others like Orthlorng Musork or heck i dunno even M-Tronik..it's so bad that i can't even think of any other lesser known labels that i really should know about. but anyway, there's always more to learn, that's what makes this stuff so exciting!

as far as albums...(subject to change of course..)

1. Autechre - Confield
2. Tim Hecker - Radio Amor
3. Gridlock - Formless
4. Arovane - Atol Scrap
5. Funkstorung - Appetite for Disctruction

...at least for the moment! i know these sound kind of random, besides the couple that were involved with the tracks selection of my other top 5, but i decided to really think about which albums inspired me the most. the one's that hit my heart.

i know what you mean, but sometimes we find that the "classic" albums for our own tastes grow weak compared to the material we become better acquainted with. im sure most of us also considered our basic tastes, but usually that can also entail the material that is probably even more deserving than the ones that are heralded as the classics.

There's no way I could narrow it down to five. That's like asking a jazz fan to name the 5 best jazz albums.

yeah, what hit me about this album was its continuous flow of "sculptures." i like to call them sculptures because they are more expressive and loose than something so strict, or predictable. i guess what im trying to say is that they connect and relate to eachother (the tracks) to omit (as the album promises) a formless mass of sound cloaked in darkness that soon takes shape as it progresses. they almost become sculpted, in my opinion. whatever, i will probably always be moved by it. the layers were so well put together..even the rhythms (i can't even get into those). when you have such a well-rounded album such as this, you can't deny it's greatness!
