Depending on where I'm at in June will depend on my seeing Melt Banana. Assuming I'm still in Georgia, I'll obviously shoot for the Atlanta show; if I'm in Delaware, I'll probably try to make the Richmond show.

I would be curious to know, why of all places to have their only U.S. peformance in 2005 as of today, it would be in Atlanta.

Well that's obvious.

TO PISS ME OFF!!!

Seriously, I don't get it either. That's really what upset me the most, the fact that the one and only performance, of one of my favorite artists of all time, was in the state I'm currently living in, and I missed it. Rediculous.

Oh well.

What do you guys think? Should I go see a free John Butcher / Gerry Hemingway Duo concert on the 17th?

And then there's Peter Brötzmann's Chicago Tentet on May 7th. Hmm...
Here's the lineup:
Peter Brötzmann (tenor sax, taragato, clarinet)
Ken Vandermark (!) (tenor sax, bass clarinet)
Mats Gustaffson (baritone/tenor sax)
Magnus Broo (trumpet)
Joe McPhee (trumpet/valve trombone)
Per-Ake Holmlander (tuba)
Fred Longberg-Holm (cello)
Kent Kessler (contrabass)
Michael Zerang (drums)
Paal Nilsen-Love (drums)

Well, for the first one, if it's free I think that there shouldn't be any question.

As for the second, all I have to say is that you'd damn well try your hardest to see that show!!!

Assuming you go to either, feel free to post reviews in this thread. I've renamed it to get some more use out of it.

That's funny. I was just thinking about that (concert review forum). Especially since I need all the help I can get. I also like doing searches on the names to see what y'all have said about particular artists.

I didn't realize that Buffalo had any sort of modern music scene. I've been looking for a way acquaint myself better with the Avant-Garde anyway. I mostly read you guys' posts and maybe try to find a sample online somewhere. First hand experience is probably the way to go .

Yeah, the Peter Brötzmann concert is free as well. I pretty much knew what you were going to say to that one! "Duh!"

A big Yes to both! My father, brother and oldest sister will be going to Butcher and Hemingway shows in Princeton on the 11th and 12th. My father might catch them a few more times, while he is on the East Coast. I can't wait to see Brötzmann's Tentet. They are going to be at this years Victoriaville Festival. If you only can see one of them, I would go with Brötzmann's Tentet. They don't tour that often.

I'd love to go to that show but I'll be in North Carolina that week. My parents are actually sounding pretty optimistic about seeing him in Buffalo on May 8th. My mom had two years of college in Buffalo (the other two at Iona, in New Rochelle) so it sounds like she would like to spend the weekend up there.
