He may have a point though, with Queen being the first with a music video. I'm not sure about this, but Bohemian Rhapsody may have been the first with an actual music video like we know it now (with effects and all), whereas before that, videos were just about the musicians playing their instruments. On topic: I went with Queen. Queen's songs have parts that I want to listen to, like the solo in "I want it all", the guitar riff in "Bohemian rhapsody", the Sabbath-like riff in "The Prophet Song", etc. etc. But with The Who (although I only have "Who's next") I just don't feel engaged listen. They have some nice songs, but they bite the dust when compared to hard rock bands of that era like Led Zeppellin, Deep purple or the Stones. Queen doesn't hold up against these bands either, but their bombast makes their music different enough to avoid instant comparison. And that's partly due to Freddy. |
I was only mentioning that The Beatles did promotional videos for their music in the 60's. Yes, many other artists did the same. However, Subterranean Homesick Blues was a clip from the Bob Dylan movie "Don't Look Back". Lets not get into semantics, Queen did not invent the music video nor where they the first band to use one. Wow, they used effects, bit f'n deal!
I will also reinterate, everyone is intitled to their opinons. Mr. Blazes, however, was making points which could not be backed up by facts.
