Pete Townshend is one of the most talented composures in Rock music over the last 40 years. Tommy, Quadrophenia, and Who's Next, are some of the most brilliant albums created. Even before these classics, Pete had wrote many tremendous songs. Queen was nothing more than a singles band, albiet a good one at times. Freddie does not come close to matching Pete in these areas. I actually like Pete's singing voice more (although that's just my taste).

I agree with you man, it is very depressing that this is not an OBVIOUS victory for Pete. I mean what the hell??

This is the kind of thing that happens when you have odd pairings. Comparing these two are like comparing apples and oranges.

Yeah, I cannot believe everyone doesn't have the same opinions as you. How dare people pick Freddie over Pete.

It's the same indignation that I would have if someone thought Eddie Van Halen > John Lennon. I mean there are such things as bad opinions. And Freddie > Pete is a bad opinion.

Freddie > Pete isn't a bad opinion. They both made awesome music and inspired a crap load of people.

Hitler > anyone is a bad opinion.

It's actually like comparing apples to dirt (Pete is the apples).

To me I don't really see why it's that far off to consider Freddie a close rival of Pete. I've done a lot of listening to The Who in the recent past, for some reason I never really ventured far into their catalogue and I'll conceed it is quite impressive. But I could say the samething about Queen, which I'm more familar with, maybe their catalogue isn't as strong all the way through but I still consider it pretty damn strong from what I've heard.

I guess what I'm really wondering is why does Queen get thrown to the side as decent/good music and The Who upped to superstars whos music is lightyears ahead of Queen. Another thing, is Freddie a driving force behind Queen as Pete was with The Who?

I've always liked the Who, but I've never really understood why they are as popular or critically acclaimed as they are. I dont know, I guess I dont really know enough about them.

McCool, three albums: Tommy, Who's Next, Quadraphenia. You'll see what the fuss is about. Queen couldn't hold a candle to The Who, nor can Freddy to Pete.
