Hard to compare these two. Both essential figures. Maybe Ian Gillan's voice is better compared to Mercury's. Voted Pete.
Btw, delve into Quadrophenia too if you have the time. I've always considered it the superior of their two rock operas.

On stage, they are not even in the same league. Freddie kicks ass. No contest
Don't know about off the stage though.

I was never really a Who person, so my vote goes to Freddie. Besides, I enjoyed strutting to Queen's Greatest Hits...especially since I wasn't jumped, probably walking through gang territory.

Queen... The band I liked when I was 8
The Who... The band I will ALWAYS like
And one more thing "bicycle race" by queen is possibly the most annoying song I have ever heard (if you don't go into pop-punk)

I can't believ this poll exists. As a serious music fan, it insults me. Queen, although enjoyable to listen to on occassion, cannot hold a candle to the Who. Pete Townshend is one of the most talented composures in Rock music over the last 40 years. Tommy, Quadrophenia, and Who's Next, are some of the most brilliant albums created. Even before these classics, Pete had wrote many tremendous songs. Queen was nothing more than a singles band, albiet a good one at times. Freddie does not come close to matching Pete in these areas. I actually like Pete's singing voice more (although that's just my taste).

Agreed. Couldn't have said it better myself. Though I do like Queen they can't compete with The Who IMO.

That is so true... I chose Freddie Mercury. I never got into The Who very much.
