When i hear GnR, all i think of is elementary school... november rain and don't cry were standards at grade 8 dances.

and i agree with zola, i think estranged is a wicked tune... GnR use you illusion II was the first cassette tape i ever bought... i gotta say my parents sure were impressed when i played 'get in the ring' for the first time.

appetite for destruction is still the best no-holds-barred-straight-up-rock-and-roll ablum in the last 3 decades.

the illusions had their moments but it shouldn't have been a double album. they should have really compiled the best tracks from both albums into one GREAT album and saved the covers / alternate versions / filler for some sort of compilation release instead of the spaghetti incident.

I can't say that I agree with that...when I put it on now it sounds so 'dated' and I wonder 'how could this have been so big?'

Van Halen from 1978, Van Halen II from 1979, The Cult Electric from 1987, Badlands VOODOO Highway from 1991 are all great examples of superior records as far as "no-holds-barred-straight-up-rock-and-roll"...at least in my opinion...I can still listen to them and say "yeah...nice tune!" whereas when I hear that stupid intro riff for Sweet Child O Mine I just cringe...and hearing Axl's "guess who swallowed the Drano voice" makes me rather ill.

I hate them, for the most part.

They do have a few gems, though. The live EP "Like A Suicide" is the best thing I've heard them do.

Axle Rose's voice is so fucking irritating and I don't particularly care for the music either. If they didn't have a nasal tone singer it wouldn't be as bad, but not something I would listen to on regular basis either.

For the most part, their music is irritating to listen to. When Welcome to the Jungle was released, I thought they had something but for me they fizzled from there. Sweet Child O'mine is plain boring. Slash is the real musician of the group and the best thing I've ever seen him do is guest on Bad Company's Wishing Well. I can't comment on Axl's voice since I'm a big fan of Neil Young but I'd rather listen to Shakey sing all day compared to Axl's groan fest.

Axl Rose is a pompous prick. he makes me vomit. he has an absolutely horrid voice, one of my least favorite in all of rock (he's up there with Geddy). off the stage, he is an embarrassment to the human race... a racist and conceded little snot.

Slash is good. the rest of GnR is passable. they sound too 80's for me.
