Ok hit and run time once again, which will be the
M.O. for the next month or two.
Without
AMM you would not have
Revolution #9 for one. They were also a huge influence on
Syd Barrett's version of
Pink Floyd's sound.
AMM and
Pink Floyd were at one time both managed by the same people. Who then decided to dump
AMM and stick to
Floyd. They figured there was more money to be made that way.
It was
Keith Rowe who taught feeback to
Syd.
AMM, is a group that has had several members that has included at different times:
Cornelius Cardew, Eddie Prevost, Lou Gare, Keith Rowe, Christopher Hobbs, Laurence Sheaff, John Tilbury.
There have been as many as 5 members in the group and as little as 2.
The current version includes
Prevost, Rowe & Tilbury. This version has been together for around 23+ years.
Prevost runs the
Matchless label that the majority of
AMM's recordings can be found on.
You really can't go wrong with the majority of
AMM's recordings. The early days were a lot louder than the current version of
AMM. And when you listen to
Prevost's "drumming" imagine at one time pre-
AMM he was in the
Max Roach/
Art Blakey school of
Jazz drumming. As hard as that is to believe when listening to him now.
As
Seba knows I can't be limited to 5.
