Tortoise is great stuff! I really dig "Millions Now Living Will Never Die".

And Avian, I haven't heard that Manitoba yet, but I really liked "Start Breaking My Heart ".

i agree, great show, but would hardly even call them remotely close to blending IDM with rock. They've always had some sort of electronic element to their music, but nothing terribly complex, but always great.

"Sine Wave" by Mogwai has an electronic feel to it.

try Seventy Three (album title is the same) they have a song called "Wobble Into Venus" that has some killer guitars, or Mosaico (Magic Midsummer) song "Wunderwheel 78" on that one... some great mahavishnu meets alan parsons moments. i found them on itunes, but they are also on www.seventythreerecords.com very different, very interesting.

I know what you mean equinox. I mentioned them very objectively. to be
honest, I heard them thru my girlfriend that LOVES them. When you have
to put up with something like that, you atleast pay attention and you start
looking at it very openminded. dats all. they do incorporate IDM-like beats
