Just about all of the Fennesz material is processed guitar, but I don't think of 'rock' when I hear him per se...

If you like Four Tet check out Daedalus and Manitoba...although it's really not exactly what you are looking for.

Just to note, I had a chance to listen to the new Caribou (Manitoba) cd "The Milk Of Human Kindness" and all I could say afterwards was "Meh"

what about synth heavy groups like add n to (x) (i wonder how far away josh saw this one coming from ) or maybe trans am

as for fennez someone behind the 'brave new waves' radio show must have had a big thing for him or something because i'd have to listen to at least an hour of his stuff once or twice a week for the last few months of 2004. and like keef. i just don't get it. why he's called a great experimental guitarist is beyond me. it's like saying anyone who uses a drum machine is a great idm artist. it's not that his music is bad but his use of the guitar seems more like a novelty to me than anything else. then again i may have just not heard the right stuff

In Chicago, there is Spizm, Trioizm, Future Rock, trs-80, tortoise

www.spizm.com
www.trioizm.com
www.futurerock.net
www.trs80.com
www.thrilljockey.com

Entire US:
Infinite Number of Sounds (cleveland, ohio)
Lake Trout (baltimore, MD)
Birth (cleveland/nyc)

This is a growing scene which I am very enthusiastic
about, considering I play live IDM/jungle on drumset
in chitown.
