yeah i dont like "i just called to say i love you". As a general rule: stay away from anything by any artist that has that 80s sound. it is true for almost any artist that made music in the early 70s and continued to make music into the 80s. they started to suck more and more.

I just reacquainted myself with Songs In The Key Of Life. Man, I had forgotten what a great album that is! I can't get enough of "Contusion" (smokin' hot fusion) and "Knocks Me Off My Feet" (one of his best ballads). Stevie's surely one of the best singers ever.

Stevie Wonder is a musical genius. "Music Of My Mind", "Talking Book", "Inervisions", and "Song In The Key Of Life" are four of the best albums released in the 1970's. He was so incredible. He was also a huge Synthesizer pioneer. He would use that instrument with in every conceivable way. How much new wave music was influenced from this (even though he wasn't close to being new wave).

I've become a quiet a Stevie fan over the last months, the guys a genius hands down. I have 'Talking Book' and 'Hotter than July' apart from the classics on those albums ('superstition', 'You are the sunshine of my life', 'Happy Birthday', 'Master blaster' etc etc) They really don't do that much for me although I like them a lot more than I orginally had. It's albums like 'Square Circles' that define Stevie as a genius.

my kid is learning "you are the sunshine of my life" in choir so I've been digging him out.
I agree he hasn't been as (ahem) consistent as in his glory days but I STILL think the guy does good stuff.

I saw him open for the Rolling Stones just around 'Talking Book' in 1972 and he was mind bogglingly awesome. I don't think it had set the charts on fire yet and people were really getting into it.

I used to take a LOT of guff for liking him because he was "commercial"
I think every l.p. up to (and including) 'the Secret Life of Plants' is just a joy to listen to, from beginning to end. But, as I say, I still think he has it.
It?
you know, talent.
character.
and I dig still that funky clavinet!

Hes definitely one of the best things to come out of the 70s. Even though he was around before. But during the 70s he was awesome. Possibly my favourite.

I have 'Stevie Wonder, The Definite Collection' 2 Disc CD. It is a great introduction to the musical legend.

i'm sure stevie wonder would make a good greatest hits collection. but the only thing is he has too many good songs to fit on any greatest hits collection.
