I'd seriously recommend Soul of Things by Tomasz Stkano ( a Polish trumpeter ) - very very mellow, gentle, subtle and truly beautiful. I have a live recording from the London Jazz Festival earlier this year which is even better than the album.

And, anyone who hasn't already, should listen to Everyday or anything else by the Cinematic Orchestra.

the only cinematic orchestra i really like is the instrumental stuff... i don't really like the nu-r&b sound of their vocal songs... stuff like 'and relax!' or 'night of the iguana' is more my cup of tea

I tried to get into Ornette Coleman, but his free jazz is a bit too much for me...
