In Souhtern California, I can listen to Indy 103.1. Anybody else here heard it? It is the elixir for this thread's affliction. They play lots o' stuff, from trippy electronica-infused music, to R.E.M., to The Clash, to Frank Sinatra, to so many more. It may not be perfect to any one person's taste, but it's the best thing I've seen come on the airwaves. And above all, it gives hope for the future!

I recently saw/heard 50c's 'Candy Shop' for the first time and it was about the biggest piece of junk I ever witnessed! I bet I could make a 'better' Rap-tune! And I'd probably even be an better vocalist!
And JoJo is hot! And she's 21!! At least!

i don't know much about that since i pretty much listen to all or i just numb myself even if it is crappy. but mainstream music or pop here in asia, as in chinese songs ARE becoming such a pain in the ears. i always wonder how these people became so popular by singing crappy songs without any beauty in them with their crappy skills...

Crapyer
I agree that the crap is getting crapyer. I was listening to the radio and actually heard a song where some one was whispering and it was only a drum beat behind it. How crappie can it get? And on top of that crap the drum beat was clearly one of those computer generated sounds; this crap was on the radio!
I’m starting to think we are de-evolving and becoming simple minded cave people once again.
One can clearly see that children are running record companies.

The real title of this thread should have been "Is Mainstream Music Getting Rappier?"
And the answer would be yes. And it is sad. There is already too much crappy rap as it is. Oh and yes the parts of mainstream music seem to suck as well.
Its hard to tell. I mean when you look back 10 years, you only remember the stuff you liked anyways. So its hard to compare it. It probably sucked 10 years ago, just as much as it does now. And probably was pretty horrible 20 or 30 years ago as well. The bands that survive are the decent ones. Im sure there was tons of crap thrown into it as well.

im sure that most people feel this way, except for teenyboppers, who will grow up anyway and find their own music. hopefully.
things will change. it always does.

i would have loved to have heard some of the reactions on people when the beatles got big. 'look at them. long hairs and loud guitars! where is the world turning?' etc etc. not that im comparing the beatles to ja rule or nelly, im just saying.
