Signal To Noise vs. Wire

firstly I'm curious if anyone here reads these two magazines and if so, which do you like better? personally I enjoy both, subscribe only to Signal To Noise and will try to spend time with the Wire at the book store: the price and snobbery are prohibitively high...

I subscribe to The Wire, I've never heard of Signal to Noise, it's probably not available in Britain. I wouldn't bother with The Wire, except for all the free CDs of random bobbins, I've heard tons of good new stuff through them. The reviews are normally pretentious pish, but it's occasionally entertaining.

How is signal to noise? Does it cover the same stuff as the Wire? I really like wire (its layout, coverage of most genres, articles on specific scenes) but the price is a major turn off.

Have not seen Signal To Noise, although I am very interested now, but I do enjoy the wire very much. I agree that it is a bit pricey, but I guess with a subscription and all the free cds it could be worth it.

I just saw a flyer at the electronic music studio to try to get signal to noise into librarys. I saw yes, but I haven't read it yet. still haven't heard from too many. The price I saw was not bad. 10 dollers for 4 issues.

I've actually never read either magazine, but the local magazine shop just started carrying The Wire this past week. I glanced through it, and it seemed to cover a broad spectrum of music, which I like, but I prefer to find music on my own, and would rather listen to it and form my own opinions than wade through other people's. I will say, though, that's it's nice to see that there's something out there at least trying to promote experimental/art music in the public eye.
