Glen Velez

So, what do you guys think of the master of handdruming techniques? I know he played on Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians" and I absolutely love his stuff. I know it's a weird comparison, but i can definitely see where some drum n' bass artists got some sort of influence from this guy...

That's a link if others want to learn more about him or even view a video of him playing...

What are your thoughts?

Well, if he's on "Music For 18 Musicians" I've heard him in that context at least, but nowhere else. I'll make a point of checking out his music in the future and getting back to you.

If you can get a hold of it, check out 'Pan Eros' and 'Ramana', but his album on Schematic (yes, i know, home of Richard Devine, etc.) called 'Internal Combustion' (a re-issue) is very dark and rhythmic...I love it.

I've never heard his original work, but i just heard an awsome sample of a song of his that Richard Devine remixed. Yeah, im sure it sounds really close to the original.

ahh yes, i was curious because I had never heard one before, but now I know what it's from. It's from the supposed 'internal combustion remixes' album that hasn't been released by Schematic yet. Lately they've been pretty bad about releasing information about a proposed album and not really getting back to the public about it until a year or so later.

Same could be for Richard. He has the 'sort & lave' album and the DVD project on his 'discography' but they haven't even been released yet, or even proposed for release. 'Cautella' on the other hand, should be released soon on Sublight.
