raymond scott - jazz or not???

i know i know another one of these. but i am curious about him. his work is all composed to the note but his stuff is meant to sound exactly like jazz most of the time. i know theres no improvising. so what do you all think. is his music jazz or not?

It depends on what period of his career you're talking about. He is probably more famous (though few know it's his music) for his music's use in cartoons and his inventions.

Overall the answer would be no, but he did pre-date bop and later electronic & ambient.

It takes all kinds.
I vote yes.
that 'Turkish Twilight' comp a couple years back is pretty swell.
the stuff is VERY demanding on the players.
I think Raymond Scott was a SUPER-genius.
