I love Nick Drake.. I have all his albums.. This is really not the area he should be in as he is a folk rock artist... I actually found out about him through that TV commercial that Sammo mentioned earlier... This proves, I guess, that songs in advertising may actually do some good at times (I know, most songs in advertising ruin the "feeling" of the song when they are pushing product)... Getting back to Drake, he was virtually unknown (and still is) during the time he recorded... He has a sweet innocent type of voice but his songs are quite enchanting (although dark at times)...

I second that! good taste in music.
Nick Drake has a very large underground followers and has been an underground hero for musicians for many years now but didn't get any real public attention until the VW commerical was up. There's nothing wrong with VW using his song, it's just a shame that commercial success never happened for Nick when he was alive.

I too have his 3 albums. Can't decide whether I prefer Pink Moon or Five Leaves Left.

If you like Nick Drake look out for Paul O'Reilly. Many consider him the "new Nick Drake".

I only have the way to blue greatest hits album, which I like very much. I got into him by hearing dEUS' Tom Barman singing River Man and Pink Moon and maybe Fruit Tree too. This last one is my favourite of him. Such a sad story, now he gets his attention.......way too late of course.
Neil Halstead, Belle & Sebastian and probably the others you suggested are also favourites of me.
and btw the this mortal coil's cover of "song to the siren" is utterly amazing, whereas it's so sad that the song "Stairsailor" now reminds me of a boring British band
