Just to let you know, that I saw this thread, and will get back to you when I have more time.

I know you asked for post Hot Five & Hot Seven, but I can tell you right now to get his recordings with King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. There is a 2cd set of the Complete 1923 recordings, which is all of the music with Louis Armstrong. It's Satchmo's first recordings, as a sideman.

King Oliver was Satchmo's idol, and where Satchmo's playing was first noticed. You will also get to hear the great King Oliver, and see why he was Satchmo's idol.

It's also with King Oliver, that he will meet his future wife Lil Hardin.

I like his "sings W.C.Handy" album. Great songs (not by him, but by Handy offcourse...) perfectly brought... Might not be the best or most famous album, or it might be (I have no clue) But I just love it!

The Creole Jazz Band with King Oliver in the back and Satchmo sitting in the front.

Great choice, but it's "Plays W.C. Handy". YO!

His most famous recordings, would be the Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings.

You're welcome. My accountants are currently working on the bill.

Here is the King Oliver set. Satchmo was still playing the cornet at that time. It also includes a couple tracks with Jelly Roll Morton, which Satchmo does not record on. However, it's Oliver and Morton. Killer stuff all around.

YO!
