When did approximately 23-25% of the world suddenly convert? Christianity and Islam combined, would get you somewhere around 50-55% of the world.

For the question at hand this quote comes to mind:

"There are basically two kinds of music, good music and bad music."

Duke Ellington

It's unimportant to me, what religion, race, or sexual preference anyone happens to be. That includes musicians.

Cockburn Christian? I've never picked that up in his music. Check out this site for an interview in which, on question 4, Cockburn describes his faith. He points out that he's spiritual, but makes no reference to Christianity (a common trait among contemporary artists, it seems).

Listen to Cockburn's 'If I Had a Rocket Launcher'. There is no 'turn the other cheek' philosophy expressed there.

Cockburn has written one of my alltime favourite lyrics, from 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time', the first track on his 1984 album Stealing Fire:
But nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight -
Got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight.

Yeh, it is true. alot of Artist's are spiritualists. That could be anything. I love, and hate. The way the americans think they're christians so most of there music is part of the christian label. Like britney etc if you want to be in the pop scene. You gotta say your a christian. arse.

My cousins are very religious and have gotten into the whole christian rock scene. I sit on the sidelines and try my best to be non-biased. There are a few groups that I think are alright: POD, Blindside, Project86. But, that is 3 bands out of probably 50 I have heard.

50% of the bands are either way too "praise jesus" for me to even listen to... and the other 50% are just not that good.

I'm not against Christian music, its just that they have a crappy track record.
