Cecil Taylor's 5 Night Stand at NYC Iridium

Ok, for the usual 3 or 4 other ladies and gentlemen, that are interested. It's that time of year again.

Cecil Taylor will be at the Iridium for 5 nights from Feb. 16-20. On the 16th will be Cecil's Trio, and the other four night will be his, Orchestra Human (Ubunto) Big Band.

This year's big band will consist of:

Marshall Allen, Taylor Ho Bynum, Stephen Haynes, Amir El Saffar, Jeff Hoyer, Steve Swell, Bill Lowe, Bobby Zankel, Sabir Mateen, Elliot Levin, Will Connell, J.D. Parran, Dominic Duval, Jackson Krall

Roivas:

Yes, I saw that thread about not having any Cecil in the collection. The horror, the horror.

Since you're in the NY area, I would check this out, while you still can see the man alive. I would especially recommend to you the trio date, on the 16th.

Last year, it was a 5 day stand at the Iridium to celebrate his 75th birthday. Here is the previous thread, which I started about it.

My schedule is busy for that week, but I will be attempting to escape for a few nights. I was expecting this to happen in March, for his Birthday.

There is also a new Cecil Taylor release from FMP. It's called, Almeda.

It's recorded by the same group, which was on, The Light of Corona. I believe this one was recorded the next day.

Goddamn higher education.

I'll be stuck in the south for the next 5 months, and I certainly don't have enough funds saved up to arrange a flight to new york, get additional transportation, find lodging and pay for the tickets. Oh well, for those who can make it, have fun!

I hope he comes to Australia, but I don't think there is a big chance of that.

I wasn't able to go this year, and tomorrow is the last night.

Why do I get the feeling, that someone who is nearby, didn't even attempt to make it?
