i just thought of this band but if you've never checked out the beta band they're most definitely a worthy listen.

I love the Beta Band. The Three e.p.'s is probably a top 20 record on my alltime list, the couple more recent ones like Hot Shots are a little short and really don't live up to the creativity in the 3 e.p.'s.

Too bad their breaking up, or maybe they already have now that 2004 is over. Really would have loved to have seen them once live.

I just thought about the one reason I don't really like 311 and it's that god damn band member thats always rapping, haven't heard a verse of his that I like.

KYUSS and that Dopes to Infinity album are great, much better than Queens in my opinion.

Zero 7 is pretty good, a bit poppier and more predictable then Air in some respects, but not bad.

That Virgin Suicides soundtrack put me to sleep, it was inevitable during the state I was in but just saying I didn't hear most of it, I did wake up to hear the last track and damn that sounds like a very sad movie. I did like that soundtrack, a bit different then all their other work, the whole time I was trying to makeup a story but I never really came up with anything; good fun indeed!

That brings me to my last point of posting while I'm on my vacation, I do enjoy albums that are stories or where all the tracks are linked together like The Who's Tommy.

Not to sound self centered or anything, but nobody else has any recomendations to the stuff I have listed?

aiaiaa, you made me pick up the 3 E.P.'s cd and put it in loop.
Calexico and some early stuff (i.e. Dead Elvis) of Dead in Vegas do give me similar taste in this sense,
am i wrong ??

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are

1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn

in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.

i agree with all your points JB

while zero7 is a poppier outfit i do find that some of the later tracks and their instrumentals are just as good as some of the stuff on moon safari. even their album opener 'i have seen' pretty much directly lifts the bass line from air's 'la femme d'argent'

the virgin suicides is most definitely a good sleeping album and a very dark one at that, but it also has one of my favorite air tunes on it (dirty trip). i still haven't seen the movie but from everything i've heard and read about it, it's not a happy film.

as for concept albums your best bet is to start looking into old 70s prog rock. i'm no expert but i'm sure there are more than a few people here who can give you LOTS of recommendations from that style (i'm looking at you SEBA, PSYCHEDELIC SYD, REVEREND ROCK )

I get an Air vibe from Junior Boys. Their album Last Exit came out in 2004 I think. Try the track 'Birthday', pretty cool dude.
