if NIN's new album is as good as I think it will be then we might aswell end this thread. Ok maybe Im a little obsessed, but they are one of the best bands still around (well every 5 years or so ).
Oh and I think Modest Mouse is a pretty descent band, I have only heard their radio singles but I enjoy them. Their videos kick ass too.

You do know there is a style of music called indie rock, right? Or do you just have your foot in your mouth?

it's a pointless genre in my opinion, and no I don't have my foot in my mouth. I didn't think my post was that hard to decipher..."Indie Rock" is a classification of a group of bands moreso then it is a depicted style of music. Atleast that's what it has turned into. The groups thrown into this mix are typically not of the same playing style.
would you care to list me some of these so-called indie rock bands, i'd really like to hear what you got.

Sorta off this thread, but i read somewhere grohl is doing the drums for Garbage's next album. sorta makes sense bcs Butch Vig (garbage's drummer) was the producer for Nevermind if i remember correctly.
As for the best bands around, I'm gonna go with Radiohead, The Mars Volta, The Roots, Modest Mouse.
Peace Out.

Have a good one

I can't see why it's so hard to accept indie rock as a genre. There are Indie Bands (Independant) and there are Indie Rock bands. It's a definite style and if you can't/won't/don't want to accept that...it's a shame really.

Hey, if I wanted to call it independent I would say indy. And not to accept something as a style is ignorant.

Primus is still around, as are Claypool's side projects.
Mr. Bungle...were until December 2004...but I'm still mentioning them because..well..they're Mr. Bungle.
Buckethead
I enjoy some Modest Mouse from time to time.
Pearl Jam
Silverchair.

average hero and black dog...is there a reason neither of you can list me a group of bands that fall into the "indie rock" genre...before telling me that I can't accept it as a real genre?
