LOL. I like that. More people should post similar things like this - find interviews from bands when they were just newly famous and un tainted by wealth, then recent ones and see how much their views have changed.

I think their lyrics don't even have to do with views. To me it seems as if they're just putting some standard 'RnB'/Rap/HipHop-phrases together.

But maybe they have both an 'independent woman'-tune AND a 'from the hood'-tune on each of their albums so it's not really a contradiction.

It's possible, but I'm not familiar with their music enough to be able to confirm or destroy that theory.
It is also possible that they did just change and require males to protect them.
