Overrated drummers

One of the most overrated drummers must be Lars Ulrich. I mean, if u are talented and play drums for like 1 year, you could play what he plays 2 times better. I've met several people that says : "Wow, Lars Ulrich must be the best drummer in the world"
Just because he's in Metallica and acts crazy does'nt mean he's the best dummer in the world.

Do you know any other drummers who are overrated?

You could not play what he plays in a year, i can tell you that. Plus, he is a great songwriter and has co-wrote most of metallica's songs. I'd say he's talented.

yeah i have to side with MJW on this one. lars may be a dick but he did have talent at one point. although, one could play a fair amount of his stuff after practicing for a year if it's the only style they approached.

actually i have a hard time thinking of any really overrated drummers. most of them who end up gaining popular attention are usually pretty worthy of it.

ok, mayb i exaggerated a bit. he's a good drummer but not excellent. most of metallicas songs is just power chords in E. but i mean..if u look at all drummers u know, lars must be one of the worst in technique and speed.

maybe we remember different lars'

when i think of fast metal drumming he's the first to come to mind. 'one' may not be the most technically complex piece of music ever but it's still a great song and everything fits. he's definately not the top player out there but he's still well above the average.

I always heard other bandmembers used to get annoyed by Lars because of his lack of talent. He can't keep rhytm. (is what I read somewhere) And the stuff ain't that great he plays (compared to loads of other metal bands)

they kicked dave out for being drunk, i think they would have kicked lars out by now if he couldn't keep rythm

If Lars couldn't keep rhythm I would hear it as his drums are so damn prominent. I don't see how Lars could have gotten away with it all these years not keeping rhythm and all. I always thought he WAS the rhythm, but maybe i'm deaf or something. Or there is the off chance that your comment was full of it.

i think Niel Peart is overrated. he sounds way too calculated and stiff, not enough soul.

Lars may be over rated if one thinks about people calling him 'the best' but I don't see anyone playing what he plays after only a year. As far as 'most metal' bands' drummers playing superior to him...well, if it weren't for his band and 'ONE' then many of those bands wouldn't exist.

Neil Peart is not over rated.
