Please keep in mind, I am not 17 yet and take into account the short notice, and not having the resources at hand.

Pops would most likely be able to pull out a complete dossier.

See the part about time factor & resources. Also, you know how you old people at deaths door, say us kids have short attention spans and all. I’ve already moved on to the next adventure.

Thumbs up

DISCO VOLANTE! If you want specific songs then try 'Carry Stress In The Jaw', 'The Secret Song', 'Desert Search For Techno Allah', and 'Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz'. The most 'normal' tracks on the album. If you can handle that then you might cope with the other bizarre atrocities on there!

As for albums, I agree with panbient that we need to respect albums more. In fact I dislike mix CDs, as opposed to tapes, for that reason: it makes it too easy to pick & choose what you want to hear instead of hearing an album as an artist intended (unless (s)he intended for you to hear it in a random order (such as Otomo Yoshihide's The Night Before The Death Of The Sampling Virus)!).

After listening to Carl Stalling's music to the Warner Bros. cartoon Russian Rhapsody, I've begun to realize that the folks in Mr. Bungle are nothing more than likeable dilettantes.

Stalling's been on my wishlist for years. I suppose I just need some instigation to get buying. (( after I deal w/ all my current music-related debts, of course ))

Now, Mike Patton performing vocals to Stalling's music, that would be interesting.

Mel Blanc is chopped liver?

Well, they have studio sessions and stuff you can get as far as Stalling goes.

Raymond Scott, too...everyone should have Powerhouse (the conveyor belt number) in their collection. One of those composers that's already in your bloodstream before you know his name. I don't have any CDs of Scott yet.

I made a tape recording of the Kremlin song from TV when I was a teenager, though. I think the cartoon is from the 40s.

Yeah, I had a tape of his music way back but have yet to get anything on CD. It's amazing that no matter how much you've heard, there's always something you're missing out on.
