Agreed.
Wait... do you mean R&B or new R&B, which we've renamed Nacken? Or are you referring to old R&B also as Nacken, in which case we would have to undermine the use of the word Nacken, as the point of renaming R&B to Nacken was to protect the integrity of true R&B, which we have agreed to still call R&B, but not so for new R&B, which we've now dubbed Nacken...

...I've gone cross-eyed.

R&B, like most new mainstream music, is just mass produced crap on a stick. I can understand labels wanting to turn a profit, but the music isn't anywhere near the standards set decades ago. There's basically no live instrumentation in R&B anymore and the lyrics are atrocious. It's true that genre definitions change, but I don't think this is an issue of genre definition.

i just object to the fact that people are generalizing the genre so much, there is a lot of good r&b. linkin park and 50 cent are shit but that doesn't make ALL of rock and hip-hop music "crap on a stick". there is a lot of ignorance in this thread.

Yeah, but ignorance is bliss, pal.
Since you're not a supporter of the 'Nacken' movement, how about we just call it 'shit on a stick', with all credit give to Volatile, of course.

"ignorance is bliss, pal"
although it shows up your hypocrisy in the bashing of modern r&b, but you can keep telling yourself that you're right and sit on your own having fun with your one-man movements like "nacken" and wearing odd socks because you're soo wacky. gimme a break, pal.

Obviously not all modern R&B is "crap on a stick," but everyone generalizes, and it's a fair generalization. Aside from maybe Alicia Keys and John Legend, I haven't heard very much "R&B" songs that really are Rhythm and Blues in the full sense of the word. Much of it doesn't even classify as "soul" or "rhythmic" or "blues."
