maybe just the two cd version came out in 2004... My favorite track (Gone [live]) is on the second cd anyway. I'll move it down to honorable mention... and replace it with Xiu Xiu's release...

I don't really have any set order in my head, but --

Pinback - Summer in Abaddon
The Album Leaf - In a Safe Place
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Interpol - Antics
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News

-- are all pretty up there for me.

I think soundtracks should totally fit as best albums. Some are original too, you know!
How about The Life Aquatic with Seu Jorge doing acoustic portugese covers of David Bowie hits?
As far as Jon Brion goes, however, I prefer the I Heart Huckabees soundtrack. Of course I don't actually own the Eternal Sunshine OST so I'm going by a pretty huge bias.

it really is good... sort of orchestral chamber pop, way different from what they did on their first three albums... the previous one already hinted a bit at this, but this one is yet a bit less harsh...

what else do you like?
