I agree completely with Chris here. When I posted earlier a few of the great albums that were released in 1989 that is what I meant. Saying 1989 was a bad year in music is simply not true, even though you may not like the albums I and Chris mentioned. For instance -
The Cure -
"Disintegration" : a landmark album, Disintegration is indescribable.
Naked City -
"Torture Garden" : Naked City's greatest accomplishment in my opinion and in the opinion of plenty of others. Naked City is an avant-garde band. Keeping in mind the meaning of the words avant-garde (taken from the French meaning "vanguard'" which is the part of the armed forces that always stands at the front of the rest of the army. In the case of music, the avant-garde are those individuals who take music to the next step in development or at least take music on a divergent path.), the greatest achievement of a band that fits under the avant-garde genre especially is an important landmark in music history. Jazz metal! Who'd a thunk it!
Morbid Angel -
"Altars of Madness" : A death metal classic and the first album of an undeniably influential band.
Terrorizer -
"World Downfall" : This is the only album by a band that helped shape the grindcore genre and Terrorizer have spawned countless imitators over the years.
