Arovane - Lilies
Biosphere - Autour De La Lune
Einstürzende Neubauten - Perpetuum Mobile
m83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts
Ricardo Villalobos - Thé au Harem d'Archimède
Sasha - Involver
Squarepusher - Ultravisitor
I'll be damned if I can sort, so I went alphabetically. I could name a thousand incredible singles and eps from this year, but strangely enough, few albums come to mind.

I'm not trying to claim it counts or anything, I just saw the release date as '04 and figured all versions of the album came out then. Not entirely sure why.

why thank you much
Check out the other ones as well. You may not agree with me, but you can't say that all the releases I listed sound the same or are in the same type of subgenre...
I try to be quite varied unlike some people, ya know?
I hate seeing a top 10, 25, 100, etc...list that has just the same type of shit all over it

1) RJD2 - Since We Last Spoke
2) Skalpel - Skalpel
3) Blockhead - Music By Cavelight
4) Fennesz - Venice
5) Telefon Tel Aviv - Map of What Is Effortless
6) Max Richter - The Blue Notebook
7) Jóhann Jóhannsson - Virðulegu forsetar
8) Kings of Convenience - Riot on an Empty Street

Honorable mention goes to Diplo - Florida because I still enjoy it more with every listening:
This list is tentative because I have not heard all of the following two albums which I expect to enjoy immensely:
