for some good funky jazz checkout Grant Green "Live at the Lighthouse" album (his other albums are mostly ballads) and Cal Tjader "Talking Verve". I can't stop listening to these albums.

You can't go wrong with the old Herbie Hancock trio: Headhunters, Thrust, and Man-Child. Someone mentioned St Germain already; he is a treat to listen to. The listed compilation has my favorite song by him: "Deep In It".
