for something a little more commercial as far as noise rock goes, download nick cave's 14 minute epic, "babe i'm on fire". most people hate it, but i think it's understated brilliance with plenty of noise-filled organ and slide guitar to suit any noise-fan's taste.

but yeah, 'the boredoms', fantastic band. more like "punk noise" than experimental, though noise music is certainly classified under experimental music. merzbow is THE beginning, so definitely check him.

also download "why" by yoko ono and john lennon (if you can find it), some great guitar by lennon and ono mimicking the guitar sounds. or just buy the whole "plastic ono band" album (the yoko ono version). there's a bunch of great noise artists out there and i think most of them have been mentioned in this thread.

I take it you've not heard their earlier works like Chocolate Synthesizer or Onanie Bomb Meets The Sex Pistols have you???

highwayChile: Blue Train's made quite a few recommendations, but (from his list) if you want something more in the Boredoms vein then seek out Melt Banana. Also you may want to try stuff by Butthole Surfers (but avoid pioughd like the plague!), and Ground-Zero by Ground Zero!

indeed, i think i missed the 'noise' part of the original post. oh well.

I am bumping this thread to talk about the new Boredom's release 'Seadrum / House of Sun.' Which a buddy of mine got a promo copy of a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's officially out yet, but holy fuck what an album. Boredoms went super jazzy on this album and it is amazing. Anyone else got around to listening to it yet?

don't you remember me telling you that it's been out since September/October of 2004, so it's really not that new lol.

I haven't really paid much attention to it, but I should soon.
