That said, I've been using Yamaha's RH5MA Stereo Monitor headphones for years -- they offer fantastic sound for a semi-open set -- perfect highs, crisp mids, and a comfortable bass. They have wonderful cord length, and are reasonably comfortable, but more importantly, they're a steal at $40-$50 retail.
Now, I've gone through probably 1 pair per year for the past 5 years due to excessive use and wear, and given their price tag I can afford to do this. Overall, I've been very happy with them for the most part, even if they tend to become a bit uncomfortable when used for long periods.
All that said, I'm just looking to try something different, as I'm sure better options do exist. A while back, a friend of mine let me hear a set of his $300 Sennheiser's, and if I do recall I was fairly impressed with their sound quality (( not to mention comfort!!! )). So if anyone has any suggestions or concerns in regard to that brand, please let me know, as I may head in that direction, at least in regard to their less-expenseive end (( although, I have heard that you almost nead a pre-amp to properly listen to most music with their products... ))
Basically, I'm looking for a solid set of studio-quality headphones with very accurate sound reproduction on all frequencies that are comfortable to wear, preferably with a cord of decent length (( I've gotten used to the 8' cord on my Yamahas )), and most importantly, I'm looking for a set that is in the sub-$150 range, if possible.
Thanks for any help in advance.
