It's funny that you say this because for so many years I looked at house and techno and all the other 4/4 beat genres as being "boring dance music"... but as I got older, I started to recognize the intricacy of those types of beats, even though they followed a basic pattern.
As minimal as some of these artists are, I think we recognize that they are more than minimal; they focus on the simple matters, but expand our audible vocabulary beyond that "untsa" beat.
I really enjoy the albums by Trentmoller, Mathew Dear, Marco Passarani, Claro Intelecto, etc, when normally I would see these guys as "dance".
It's great to see Equinox recognize the less complex!
