Bounce, Make, Model

One of my favorite releases of the year: Jimmy Edgar's "Bounce, Make, Model" EP.

unfortunately, I missed him in Los Angeles with Diplo, but his live shows are supposed to be pretty crazy. Any thoughts on Jimmy Edgar?

Well, let me start off with his Kristuit Salu vs Morris Nightingale project on Merck records. "My mines I" was a great album that mixed his IDM talent with the Prefuse/Machinedrum hip hop aesthetic of the time and I feel that's his BEST album by far. His Michaux album on Audio.NL, was basically a big disappointment to me. I respect the fact that he tried his hand at glitch/experimental electronica, but I feel it's not his strong suit. His first ep on Warp was a bunch of garbage (to me). Although the tracks were nice, it just seemed like a filler album. It included one or two of the songs from the kristuit salu album and the others didn't bring any flare. I actually like this release because it's basically a homage to the Detroit techno scene that he grew up listening to and his production skills really work well on this release. I wouldn't say it's his best album, but definitely an improvement.
