my first post in here!
I agree that avril is just a mediocre pop act dressed up as a 'rock chick' to try and cash in on the whole skater-teen thing going on these days. I heard her album and it is absolute shit. The couple of singalong singles and then the rest is sub-standard, bit-too-smoothly produced tripe. Its a shame really, cos these kids are going to grow up thinking that this sort of shit, along with all the other pop-rock acts of the moment like busted etc. is rock n roll. I don't know whether i'm getting old or what but where are all the good bands these days? Ah well at least Pearl Jam will keep kicking out album after album of quality stuff until they're dead.

Well said Daveman, I agree totally. Avril is just another passing fad, mass produced for all the "sk8r boiz and gurlz". Wow. It hurts my brain to even type those words, let alone say them. Though, I think she's losing steam. She's going to have to put out another album to keep her on top of the crap heap. Otherwise, she's gonna be pulled under by all of those "The" bands. Ugh, I hate those too.

i definitely think this should be moved to the pop section. i wouldn't mind avril lavigne if she wasn't a walking contradiction... she seems obsessed with proving that she doesn't care what people think of her, which just shows that she really cares, a lot... and the whole thing with calling herself a punk, and saying she hates when people says she's a pop artist... hello, your music is pop music! putting spikes on the arm of britney wouldn't make her any less pop, and it doesn't work for avril either.
