Best concert you have ever been to?

I must say for me it's very hard to chose one, so I will have to chose a few of them cause I just can't decide one.

Bruce Springsteen (ullevi/göteborg 2003)
Iron Maiden (globen 99)
Rolling Stones (stadion 2003)
Black Crowes (opening for Aerosmith 99)

I haven't been to many concerts yet, but I think the best one 'til now has been the Metallica show on the 21st of June this year.

There's already a thread like this in the Rock section I believe....but what the heck, until someone merges it, I'll just reiterate.

Police circa 1981 - Played at my University Campus Center Ball Room while touring in support of Regatta de Blanc. Small venue, great concert. Got to party backstage afterwards.

Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M. and Bright Eyes - One of the Vote For Change concerts held in October. Great concert. Two of my all time favorites - Springsteen and R.E.M. together in concert! Loved it.

Hell, I dunno....
some of my favorites would have to be

KISS at Tiger stadium, Detroit, MI w/ Sponge and Alice in Chains (1996). It was KISS first show reunited in makeup. I paid almost $200 for my ticket

Nirvana, James A. Rhodes Arena Akron, OH, w/ The Boredoms and Meat Puppets (1993). My first concert. It was great.

Modest Mouse, Scene Pavillion Cleveland, OH (2004). They put on one hell of a show!

Prick, The Odeon, Cleveland, OH (2002?). Wow! I wish they would play again.

Mushroomhead, Various clubs, Akron-Cleveland, OH (1995-2000). Used to put on the most insane intense shows EVER. Not so much anymore though. I think Ive seen them live about 30 or so times at least.

Ive been to a ton of shows... I cant remember every single one of them, but these are some that really stood out. Other bands I have seen live that were good were The Ramones, Black Sabbath, Korn, Type O Negative, Pantera, Tool, etc.., Plus I have been to quite a few festival shows.... Probably the most disappointing live show that Ive seen was Metallica (seen them 3 times).

I've seen the Stones about 5 times.
In theory I can make a lot of fun of them. They deserve a cheap shot now and then. BUT, the fact of the matter is that there are an amazing number of songs they just play the opening riff to and you can FEEL a bolt of energy go through the crowd.
I like that feeling.

I also saw Zep on Houses of the Holy Tour and it was a similar thing. The crowd brings an expectation with them and it's a great feeling when that expectation is met or even exceeded. Page's 'Whole Lotta Love' solo was just mind boggling. The violin bow both experimental and sheer showmanship.

I saw a band called Half Japanese open for The Mekons in the late 80's and it was a hilarious night I'll never forget. Three songs into their set and every single person packed into this teeny tiny little club was doing 'the pogo' like we were all in a bouncy at a birthday party. Up until then I thought 'The Pogo' was a myth. I guess when the club is crowded and the music is good it's the only way to participate. It was like being in a rock video.

I saw the Kinks once, right after 'One For The Road' was all over the FM. The scalpers thought the Kinks had hit the stage and drastically lowered the price. Our Lucky Day, it was a false start and the Kinks were just amazing. The crowd knew all the words to all the songs and knew exactly when they were supposed to sing along. Ray Davies rewarded their good behavior with an effortless showmanship. He would cock an eyebrow or hold a hand to his ear and the place would just go nuts.

I don't get out as often as I like but I'll die happy knowing I've seen some really great people or caught some really special moments.

special to me anyway.

That must have been an interesting show!!! I have a few of their records, good stuff...

Edit: Half Japanese that is, I've never heard the Mekons...

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the best I've seen, but I don't go to many concerts. I don't share similar tastes in music with my friends, so I can never drag them to shows with me.
