What about the production side? is it worth giving in and picking up a keyboard (I've always got my eye out for a Korg Triton) or something early, or deal with software early on?

I've been dicking around in Reason for about a year and a half. Really wish I had a keyboard. I think it would make things considerably easier. I got into production before DJing, either way will help when you begin the other.
you don't really need the reason, or any other production program that costs a WHOLE lot for production like shadows, but an MPC sampler is absolutely necessary. then, tou can get a cheaper production program from basically any computer store, or FLStudio would even be satisfactory.
