2 Songs...

- Stalingrad, by Malcolm Ward, Copyright inclusive -

My Duty is to lead my men
And now I gotta do it again
My orders are final
And I want disobey

I sit down for a few minutes rest
I did what I thought was best
My comrades are standing in line
Probably for the very last time

The blood that has been spilled
Is a reminder of who we have killed
We constantly ask ourselves Why?
As the bombs drop from the sky

The Sargeant says his last words
Before he goes back inside
We're left in the pouring rain
No time to feel any pain

We are told to charge the enemy lines
Through the barbed-wire and mines
We say our last desperate goodbyes
As we look our friends in the eyes

Rifles clutched in our hands
Have to obey our commands
We start our last daring attack
Not allowed to turn back

The Bunkers light up in flashes
As the machineguns roar in dashes
We hit the ground staying low
Everything seems to be so slow

Shellshock as the mortars hit in
My men around me caving in
Lifeless bodies all around
The screams are a regular sound

Getting back on my feet
Not allowing a defeat
I tell my men to get ready
A last battle, got to stay steady

The bullets continously fly by
Now is the time for our reply
We gather our courage and assault
But my men die, its all my fault

I'm the last man standing on this field
A decaying tomb, it must be sealed
Bullets still passing by, and now I'm hit
I fall down, into this pit

A last thought fills my mind
This is a battle for mankind
Don't forget this special day
The day we fought for Stalingrad

- Midway, by Malcolm Ward, Copyright inclusive -

The fog drifts across
A calm eeriness present
Cold and damp the day
Soon ready to set off

Gathering our equipment
Still joking around
Need a sense of humour
To survive this war

Jump into our planes
Now just a nervous laughter
Preparing for take off
Will we be alive here after?

My gunner gets in behind
A quick glance at his face
A tired helpless soul
Fatigued and no more grace

Catapult ourselves into the sky
A short feeling of freedom
Praying, I dont wanna die
Seeking my own home again

Ascending into the air
As free as a bird so high
I 360 on my axis, shouting
A tear drops from my eye

Getting into formation
End of the fun today
No more revelation
Destination Midway

A last few messages
Encouraging words
The squad is my family
My family in this hell

Radio silence initiated
Last few seconds alone
Alone in thought and mind
Everything else unknown

Finally out of the clouds
The carriers we do see
The mighty machines afloat
Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Akagi

Turning sharp we dive down
Engines soaring in the wind
Need to stay low and steady
My airmates close behind

Crossfire all around
Planes plummeting down
The thunder of impact
An unbearable sound

Shattered glas in the cockpit
Japanese Flak tearing us apart
Bloodstained hands shaking
Crashing down, burning dart

My gunner already shot
I clutch the stick, burning hot
Release the torpedoe, the anger within
Seeing it spin off, a deadly sin

Breaking off towards the right
Need to escape this bloody fight
Engine smoking, leaking fuel
My last flight, so very cruel

Engine cuts out half way home
Losing altitude, facing down
The sea a dazzling chrome
The last memory in my mind

A black velvet covers my eyes
Feeling the water crawl up
A strange suffocating demise
This is the end in this life for me

Soon be rejoined undear the sea
With my other shipmates and debris
A another battle in this world
To be remembered for ever more

I posted these in a German forum (I live in Germany), and they were not to well received... so I though i would try it on a proper crowd of people.
